iPad 2 in 3 – 4 Weeks?

According to an Insider, it seems like Apple Inc. is going to be announcing the new generation iPad (as rumored as the iPad 2) anytime soon. There is no official words from Apple company yet but it is said that a special event will be held at the end of January or early February.

What to Expect in the Next Generation iPad?

If you’ve just gotten that shiny new iPad from the Apple Store, then there are chances that you might be screwed. This rumored new iPad is said to include Front and Rear cameras which will definitely record HD videos. It is likely to be capable of recording and playing 720p HD videos (notice that it won’t likely to overshadow the features of iPhone 4). For some reasons, Apple does not make the iPod Touch or iPad to include those features that’s better than the current generation iPhone. However, if I’m wrong, we would see the new iPad 2 handles Full HD video (1080p).

Retina Display? Probably Not

Retina display has been one of the greatest features of the iPhone 4 but will it be ported to the iPad? Sources say that it is “very unlikely”. Such Retina Display that is presented on the current smart phone will require the next generation of Apple’s Tablet to be 2560 x 1920 = 4,915,200 pixels which is not possible to render (at least not with the technology available currently).

Software Features

While we won’t see many new hardware features on the next generation iPad; it should come with possible software enhancements such as Voice Command and Facetime. It would be cool to see if text messaging is made available as well.

Do you really need it?

I have a Macbook Pro and an iPhone; unless if there is a killer feature on the next generation of the Apple’s Tablet; it looks like that I won’t be getting it. However for those who are using Android (seriously, why?) I’d recommend it. It will be a great device if you haven’t owned an iPhone.
