The New Biggest Technology Company

The era of Microsoft has ended when technology is no longer just ‘Windows’ that sits on your desk but rather Apples that fit in your hand.

The maker of revolutionary iPods, iPhones and iPads, Apple Inc., overtakes Microsoft (the maker of Windows Operating System) to become the most valuable technology company in the world. This is one of the most stunning turnarounds in business history, Apple had almost bankrupt only a decade ago.

Nobody thought it was possible; but all it took was an Apple to make a change. This year 2010, Apple has finally over taken Microsoft.

With Windows software franchises, Microsoft has dominated the relationship with most people over two decades; but it turns out Microsoft’s customers are switching to Apple and it seems the multi touch experience on the iPad has won over the keyboard on a desktop computer.

Apple still sells computers but most of the revenue is coming from handheld gadgets (iPhones and iPods)

As of May 26th 2010 on Wednesday; Wall Street valued Apple at $222.12 billion and Microsoft at $219.18 billion. The revenue of both companies is comparable, Microsoft ($58.4 billion) and Apple ($42.9 billion)

“No Technology Company on the Planet is more profitable than We Are” – Steve Ballmer (CEO Microsoft)

Apple is at the top of its game at the right time; the new Apple iPhone is expected to be unveiled on June 7, 2010.

Congratulations Apple!
