Sony Unveiled Playstation Move

Sony officially unveiled its wii-ripoff new technology during an event at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco. This new controller was named ‘Playstation Move’ and it will be sold separately or bundled with the Playstation 3 console. You can get one no later than this fall for less than $100. However, of course you must own Playstation 3 (+ Playstation Eye) first. Don’t expect to bring the controller home and wonder how you’re going to attach it to your TV.

“It is fast, precise and accurate. This is the next generation of motion-gaming technology” – Peter Dille (Senior VP of Marketing at Sony)

Just like the Wii, this Sony version of motion-gaming controller has another sub-controller that works just like the Wii’s Nunchuk controller.

There were several games demonstrated using the Playstation Move, this includes new titles Sports Champions, SOCOM 4 and some new titles that I don’t think worth mentioning.

Personally, I have not tested the ‘Playstation Move’ yet, but by the way it looks we can agree that it is pretty much similar to what Nintendo Wii had for years except you can play Playstation Move in High Definition experience. We’re also being told that it has better accuracy compared to Nintendo Wii. Anyhow, I don’t really care since I’m waiting for Microsoft’s Project Natal coming at the end of the year.

Game publishers are on board with Playstation Move, you will see some of the renowned titles coming to PS3 platform and should support this new controller. If you own a Playstation 3 and thinking about buying a Wii, you should hold that thought and get this controller from Sony instead.
