Mudah or Scamdah?

Mudah or Scamdah?

What does it take to get a brand new iPhone 3G S? Are you thinking of getting a brand new iPhone from Mudah.my?

Have you been searching for something to buy on Google lately?

You must be familiar with these sponsored Ads:

Mudah Scam

That’s Mudah.my ad, or so called the #1 Malaysian Marketplace to buy everything you can think of. No, it’s not an auction site like eBay, its more like a buy and sell listing page where you don’t even have to register in order to post an advertisement. Mudah.my allows its users to post free classified ads without even registering for an account. There is no hidden fee and no catch. Sounds too good to be true but could this be a good thing?

Here’s something: AVOID THEM! Many of my friends claimed that they’ve been scammed couple of times at Mudah.my. It has come to my attention to warn you not to do the same mistake. I repeat “Do not buy anything from Mudah.my. (Check out Safe Online Shopping Guide)

Mudah.my is not as clever as what they claimed to be on their ads. Sure they have tons of ads, but that doesn’t mean that they are safe.

Let’s just hope that this post will give some sorta awareness to them so that they will do something about their stupid system. Perhaps its time for them to go slow on ads and invest more on research. They need to do some hell loads of research on Security Issues.

Tips: (If you’re still want to buy stuff from Mudah.my)
*never pay sellers via Western Union, not even PayPal. Stick with Maybank2u
*if a seller seems suspicious, stop communicating with them

I myself purchased items ADVERTISED BY ADVERTISERS/SELLERS in mudah.my few times already. What I do to make the save purchase is, always do C.O.D (cash on delivery).

When C.O.D:- (Pay and get the item at the same time)

    * You can check and veify them item(s)
    * Proceed with purchase and pay the seller or
    * Cancell the purchase

When making and online purchase:- (Pay first then get item later)

    * Try to avoid, if cannot
    * Purchase from a reliable service provider

I’m not sure which part of ‘fitting the user’ you do not understand but since you’re soooooo interested in knowing it Let me explain to you “exactly” what I’ve proved here in this blog post.

First of all I’ve proven that Mudah.my is not secure, take a look at the comments and you will see these are “JUST” a portion of the mudah users who have been scammed.

Second, Let’s take Facebook for a example. Mark Zuckerberg is a genius, but did he create Facebook for the genius? NOPE!! do you have to go through complicated registration process to get registered? NOPE!! do you have to be a genius and a computer savvy person to use Facebook? NOPE!!!

the product needs to fit the users. When something is not secure, it really means something is “WRONG”. The user can’t be wrong, the system is.

and so let’s say if you work or plan to work with Mudah company. Instead of going to blogs and proving “AS IF” you’re not wrong, why not fix the security issues? Savvy?

          • Beringat sebelum kena

            06.19.2011

The convenience promised by the ” product that fit the user” is tempting. I doubt there are any.

I have no intention of backing-up Mudah.my, nor any intention to join their establishment.

What i emphasized was SELF AWARENESS.

So Facebook is example of “the perfect product” you dream of.

Mark Zuckerberg is a genius cum millionaire. The Facebooks seems to fit everyone. Yes EVERYONE. The EASINESS to register attacracts almost everybody in this earth universe including the one we call SEX PREDATORS. Have you never read about underage girls become their prey? Their dignity/self integrity lost are even greater than what we discussed here (my opinion only, please disagree if you dont think so).

You also must came across of the news people scammed through FACEBOOK too.

How to do? Did Mr Zuckerberg do anything about this? Is the problem caused by FACEBOOK’s insecurity? If yes then there is something is WRONG with it. Here come SELF AWARENESS.

I cant deny the appealing of the “perfect product” that you dream of, but i suggest everyone to improve their awareness instead. We’ll never know when this “perfect product” will be available, by then, without self awareness, i guess we’ ll be scammed over and over and over again. Until then lets dream..

          • Nazz

            06.20.2011

I see your points on backing up what you’ve claimed. However there is no need to go that wayyyy off… If you’d like to make a comparison, let it be Mudah vs eBay. I did talk about Facebook, but I didn’t say it was a good marketplace, I praised the site being friendly to users.

However since you’re so interested to talk about Facebook; even if its not a marketplace you can see that they ACTUALLY managed to fix every each and single loopholes they’ve detected. Facebook is becoming more secure each and every day.

What has Mudah.my been doing to improve its services? =]

and you may not know this, but they are not answering my email probably because of this blog post which I find very funny from their administration side. We went to the website, registered an account, we even bought the site’s credits just to see what its like and what has been improved in terms of security.

Their response was not to post any of our products and answer any of our emails. So, that’s how you run a Mudah company.

i really doubt this matter. We cant simply blame mudah.my for the scam done by the public user. furthermore, the most important internet business rule is not to do posting unless its a reliable trader with good feedback (we need at least 20 of them before we can buy with confidence). But mudah.my style to face this matter sure is SLOW. i mean by rejecting many ads in a time while hoping the user to register as PROniaga before u can actually get your ads approved. While members of PROniaga actually the same as normal members which they only hav to key in their ic number to be notice as reliable member. the only difference is the proniaga people PAY FOR IT. I am not one of mudah.my user now. i am proud to say i am supporting Malaysia by selling my stuff via http://www.1tradezone.my. The website support 1Malaysia campaign by our government. And do notice, the e-shop list going to be a reliable one as 1tradezone.my plans to get all the shop registered and will make a direct contact with the shop if any of the shop do scam people. Thats how shopping online should be in Malaysia! but regarding all the free ads normal user can put in,1tradezone.my will surely filter those scams and just approve logic offers. To deal without knowing the rules of online shopping which is : always do CASH ON DELIVERY, is MERELY STUPID.

“there should be no risk when you’re buying online. (well, unless if its mudah, there will be risks)” – this is an amazing quote. that’s like saying there should be no corruption in any government in the world. sure, it’d be nice if it were true, but that’s not the case now is it?

regarding a lot of scams on mudah, yes, there are definitely a lot of scams going around there these days. that’s because the website is so popular and there is a huge pool of people ready to be scammed.

best thing to do is to not transfer account blindly. as for myself, i always do COD at a safe place. best to buy only if you could meet the seller. if not, get ready to lose a lot of money.

this is only true when you barely make 1 sale a week; but if you’re making 50 sales a day Cash On Delivery won’t work. Its fine if you’re McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC they do Cash On Delivery but still do you know that there are cases where customers refuse to pay for the delivered food? It’s stupid but it’s happening. Sellers don’t prefer CoD.
eBay has the most secure online shopping experience in the world. They own PayPal, they own the bank! So that’s my point; mudah.my is having trouble covering up the security loopholes; you can rob peoples money easily through mudah.my Look at all the comments above; these are only a portion of the people who have been scammed. The people don’t have to fit to the website; but the website must fit the people.
