A Macbook Pro can be an amazing notebook for anyone. However there are certain things that makes you want to stay 'Windows'. Is Mac good for gaming?

I was a Windows user who switched over to a Mac. What’s the difference? It is a ‘BIG’ difference, Mac is not just another computer, it has its own Operating System and it works differently than a windows based PC. You can buy that new Vaio laptop, or the latest Acer notebook but they are still Windows based PCs. Apple is the only other player in the desktop / personal computer industry.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtvloPFYocw

Most people who have switched over to a Mac often tell other people how great a Mac really is and how much it is superior to any other PCs. However there are certain things that you should look out for before getting that brand new Mac. Apple Mac is a great machine, but you have to get ready to make a few changes. If you don’t like these changes then Mac might not be suitable for you.

No More Games
Sure, there are some games that are made for Mac. However, the experience is not the same. This might change in the future with ‘Mac App Store’ but for now the most you could download from ‘Mac App Store’ is Angry Birds.

If There’s No Alternative. You Might Not Like It
Not all applications available on Windows are made available for Mac. For example, I was having trouble trying to find a decent alternative application of Pinnacle Studio for Mac. There’s iMovie, but I don’t like iMovie very much because I was so used to Pinnacle Studio.

Dual-Boot Is Not For Everyone
You can install Windows on a Mac but not everyone would like the idea of having to choose an operating system every time they boot up the computer. Windows is not made for Mac; the experience of using it wouldn’t be the same.

The World is Windows
With Mac slowly gaining its Market share in the desktop computing market, Windows is still the most popular Operating System in the world. Over 80% of PC owners are using Windows OS. If you’re thinking about switching over to a Mac get ready to face compatibility issues here and there.

There are tons of theories when it comes to Shut Down VS Sleep Mode. It will all comes down to your personal preferences.

note: these tips might not be suitable for windows based PC

Hola Macbook Owners! I’ve got this question a lot from the contact form. I hate the fact that I have to answer the same question over and over again and so I decided that I should write an article about it.

Question: Hey Nazz, I’ve got a Macbook Pro, I was wondering which is the better option when it comes to keeping the battery ‘healthy’. Should I Shutdown every time at the end of the day or should I close the lid and make it enter the sleep mode?

There are a lot of theories when it comes to Shut Down VS Sleep Mode. In the end, it will all comes down to your personal preferences. It depends on how you use your laptop and what kind of user are you? To make it very clear I’m gonna describe how both of these features work on a Macbook.

Sleep
the good: Uses less energy and you can get to your computer as soon as you reopen the notebook lid. the bad: the parts are still running since it is not completely turned off.

Shutdown
the good: Everything is turned off so obviously there’s no heat or anything coming out of the notebook. the bad: Let me rephrase that; everything is turned off except some of the parts that has to be kept running. Too much of shutting down and booting up your computer will significantly affect the Hard Drive’s performance. Is a turned off notebook really use no power at all? No, technically it is still running.

For most average users, Sleep Mode is simply the better option since it only uses some energy and the system resumes as soon as you reopen the lid.

the recommended way: Shutdown Your Macbook when you plan not to use it for more than 15 hours. If you’re only away for less than 13hours, lets say you sleep at 10pm and wake up the next day early in the morning and immediately use it, there is no need to shut down.

Just bought that new and shiny Macbook Pro? It is a heck of an investment; I’ve just gotten my first ever Macbook Pro last month and I see there is a need to take a really good care of this expensive new laptop.

Macbook has built in battery, it is replaceable but I would want it to last as long as possible.

How do you take care of your Macbook’s Battery?

It depends on your lifestyle; if you are traveler; the best way is to charge your Macbook whenever you have the chance to do so. According to Apple, maintaining the battery life means to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. It is not recommended to leave your Macbook plugged in all the time, ideally the best representation would be a person who uses the Macbook on the train, then charge or plugs it in at the office.

My Experience

After using the Macbook for a month now, my Macbook has completed 29 battery cycles (average of 1 cycle a day). I find that in order to maintain the battery life, you should charge your battery most of the times.

Should you drain your Macbook’s battery everyday?

No! Draining your battery is only good when you are about to calibrate the battery. (you should calibrate your battery only once a month) For proper use, leave your battery at 60% whenever you decide not to use it.

Only drain your battery below 50% when you decide not to use it for more than 3 days

Ideal Use

Plug in every time the battery stats shows less than 60%. Do not drain the battery too often; if your Macbook battery is drained, charge it without turning it on. Let it full charged before you start using it.

Apple Inc. will blow your mind this January 27th as they will reveal their latest-creation. They successfully delivered iPhone in 2007, and this year, Apple promised another innovation. It is official that this latest creation is said to be unveiled at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts approximately 10 AM on January 27 (one week from now). The launch of the rumored Apple Tablet looks certain, however it is still not clear whether they will unveil other things as well.

We can also expect a demo of the latest iPhone firmware; ‘iPhone OS 4.0’ and the new version of iLife 2010.

There has been some rumors about the partnerships of Apple and Wall Street Journals; along with few other eBook publishers. They might going to bring e-books into the Apple Tablet. It is also reported that ‘The New York Times’ will be announcing a partnership with Apple to provide newspaper content on the Tablet.

Apple Tablet is expected to be a multi purpose device. Think of it as an iPhone with big screen, is this going to be the next big thing?

Apple is announcing its computer tablet very soon. The product is still unconfirmed by Apple, but the company will put an end to the rumors at the upcoming event somewhere in January, February or March.

Ever heard of the rumored Apple’s tablet? I personally used to call it Macbook Touch; but anyway this isn’t just rumors anymore since it is most likely to be announced very soon. The product is still unconfirmed by Apple, but the company will put an end to the rumors at the upcoming event somewhere in January, February or March.

Apple may have disappointed us before; the last time was with the 3G S, which is just totally not worth the upgrade from previous iPhone 3G. I remember when we were somehow mistakenly expected so much more with new iPhone but then 3G S came and we were all like WTF?

There are few documented facts about the so called Apple tablet, including in November 2008 when Apple took control of the trademark name TabletMac from Axiotron company.

Domination?

Apple may invade the computer market with its revolutionary touch screen tablet. Just like what iPhone did to the smartphone market couple of years ago. According to the rumor it may be a Mac for all users. It is much like the iPhone but with larger screen making it the best gadget to bring around in the coffee house.

Apple Tablet is expected to be announced by Steve Jobs soon on the next Apple Event; of course this is just rumors but whatever it is, as I said and what other thousands tech writers would expect, ‘the next Apple revolutionary product would likely be in a form of tablet computing’.
